Lands End

Today we have been invited to join our Canadian friends, Miles and Lyn, to go to the beach.  We are headed to a beach bar called Tabasco’s.

The vendors and waiters greet Big Jim by name as the tall man with the distinctive laugh enters the beach.  We learn the he and his wife not only support the local people with their patronage, but are generous with their gifts to these people and their families. He is asks about their children and how they are doing in school.

A group of ten gather quickly and we are seated next the beach with a great view of the ocean and the busy beach of Cabo San Lucas. They are long lived  acquaintances, some related, and accept us with no pretense.  Beer is ordered, two-for-four or three-for-six, and arrive in ice filled buckets.   “When in Mexico…”

The beach is busy with boats and wave runners; no ship is anchored in the bay today.  Sun bathers are enjoying the lounge chairs and swimmers are enjoying the calm waters.  Someone points out a whale breaching and boats all stop to watch the show.  The area this time of year is  full of large sea life.  Grey whales and orcas play in the warm waters off shore with their new calves.  Sea Lions love the shores around the rocks and beaches surrounding Lands End. Lands End is the distinctive rock formation at the southern tip of Cabo San Lucas beach.  It is where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez.  El Arco is the rock with the familiar arch seen in many photographs.

Another great day in Mexico, eh?
